What Color Jerseys Are the Ravens Wearing Sunday

When the Baltimore Ravens have a bye week, it gives us writers a chance to reflect on the team in general — not only with the play on the field but also the look and vibe of the team. That brings us to talk and analysis of the current slate of Ravens uniforms, in all their colors and combinations.

With Baltimore's uniform lineup essentially "complete" since the introduction of purple pants during the 2018 season, we now have 9 uniform combinations, plus the Color Rush uniforms, to marvel over and surprise us from game to game.

With the aid of my fellow writers here at Ravens Wire, we put together the complete ranking of Ravens' uniform combinations. From worst to best as we see them. Without further delay, I give you the Ravens top-10 uniforms (out of their current 10 options).

White on white . . . simple, clean, and rather boring. It seems every team has their white Jerseys, so it's no surprise that this combination finds itself last in our uniform rankings — it was actually voted last unanimously by our panel of writers.

While the white on white may bring back memories from the Ravens' first Super Bowl victory, the colorless white look doesn't do much to inspire pride in the team and might even feel a bit dated, especially since this combination is typically worn during away games. It's interesting to note that the all-whites have taken a somewhat "back-seat" to the other prominent Ravens away uniform — white jersey with black pants — and hasn't appeared in a game so far this season.

Now we're not saying these are "bad" uniforms, but Baltimore's game-day attire could be better given the abundance of choices they now have each week.

Also on the simple and kind of boring scale, at least the Purple pants give this ensemble a pop of color, probably why it ranks just above the all-whites. This relatively new combination, having first appeared in Week 2 of 2018, has been the lesser-used third option in the white jersey rotation, appearing mostly in away games like the other two.

It remains to be seen if this combo will appear more frequently than the all-whites, which would be a welcome thought, essentially providing a more colorful option second only to the black pants variation.

I feel like these are the quintessential "love it or hate it" uniforms, but based on their game-day performance, we should probably appreciate these uniforms more than this list affords. Since their debut in 2016, the Ravens have worn this look in spectacular double-digit blowout victories over the Browns, Dolphins, Raiders, and most recently the Rams.

While we can't be sure that the uniforms played a larger role in these wins, the results certainly bode well for any future opportunities to wear them, as well as the chance to earn a more favorable ranking on any uniform lists to come.

Another relatively new combination, one that I actually ranked higher than my colleagues, this combo offers a stronger "Ravens" look than the all-black combination, featuring their signature purple more prominently. This look has only been worn once during the 2018 playoff-clinching victory over the Cleveland Browns — a game that seemingly cemented a new era for the Ravens (with Lamar Jackson at quarterback) as well as a return to the playoffs.

I would have expected to see this ensemble a bit more since then, given its symbolic success and uniqueness to the Jackson epoch in Baltimore. Perhaps we will see this combo on the field again soon.

The classic. The pure. The OG.

If the Ravens had one uniform to "rule them all," this would be it. But unfortunately, it doesn't rank too high on our list, coming in as the lowest of the purple jersey combinations. Maybe after years and years of being the main choice, this combination feels a bit played out. Or maybe it's because we finally have so many alternatives to choose from.

Regardless, this ensemble is (and will likely remain) the Ravens' first and foremost uniform combination. While it might not rank toward the top here, it doesn't take away from its uniqueness in the NFL and is a look that definitively says "Ravens" no matter how often you see it.

Since 2018, the Color Rush uniform is no longer the Ravens' only option for a complete purple look. The addition of the purple pants gives the ravens original home jersey a clean look, one that shows off Baltimore's signature color and design seamlessly from top to bottom.

While we've only seen this look twice since the purple pants arrived in 2018, the Ravens haven't had much success while wearing it. The team lost both games in which the all-purples have been worn, most recently to the Browns in 2019 in a lopsided affair that ultimately knocked some sense into Baltimore, and onward to one of the best offensive campaigns in NFL history.

While it's uncertain when we'll see this combination on the field again, or how often, it certainly gives the Ravens one more distinct choice in their arsenal of uniform combinations.

This has recently become the Ravens' prominent choice in white jersey combinations and evokes memories of their most recent Super Bowl victory in 2012. However, this look was actually the Ravens' first away uniform color combination, having been used in their inaugural season as well as in 1997 before being replaced by the all-white look in 1998. Note: the first black pants iteration featured striping down the side, whereas the current pants do not.

Out of all the white jersey combinations, this one ranks highest on our list,  The black pants give this look a much stronger presence than the all-white option and might be more representative of the Ravens "new generation" given the success that this ensemble saw during its frequent use in the Joe Flacco era, including the Super Bowl win.

The inverse of the previous combination, this option has been in use since 2008, under the supposed direction of John Harbaugh, and has become a frequent alternative to the "all-blacks", which debuted in 2004. It actually replaced the all-black look entirely during Harbaugh's first two seasons.

This ensemble shows off the beautiful black jerseys but in a somewhat less intimidating, perhaps more refined look with the contrasting white pants. This combination has seen both triumphs and tragedies, most recently in the Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

While it's not the favorite black jersey use, this combination cracks our top-3 due to its overall look and tone on the field.

This look has been in use since 2010 and finally offered an alternate option for the purple jerseys. While not nearly used as frequently as the white pants variation, this combination seemingly helped usher in an era of success under Joe Flacco, with use in playoff games in the years leading up to the Super Bowl XLVII victory.

This combination has a look and feel that is uniquely Ravens, which is probably why it earns such a high mark on this list. Maybe it's because the purple jersey-white pants combo is a bit overplayed, and somehow less interesting given that every team has the dark/light look almost out of necessity and tradition.

Regardless, the Ravens have found a winning combo here in the purple-over-black, one that may have some fans questioning why this isn't the team's main uniform moving forward.

Black Out. Darkness. Night Mode.

Call it whatever you want, but there's virtually no debate that this is the Ravens' best look. The lowest vote it received by our panel was second, the clear favorite among the field.

Debuting in 2004, the black-on-black combo has been the Ravens' primary and longest-running alternate since the team's inception, having earned more victories than defeats since then. While originally serving for prime-time games, this ensemble has since been used for a wide range of clashes both divisional and otherwise. But perhaps it's because of that initial exclusivity that we admire this look so much — the darkness of the black looks so much better under the bright lights of a Sunday or Monday Night Football game.

This outfit really is the pièce de résistance of Baltimore's wardrobe. It's intimidating, it's clean, and it's a great tribute to nature's color choice for the team's namesake… attire that could give even Edgar Allen Poe goosebumps. There's just something about the all-blacks that insinuate stealth, cunning, and ferocity all rolled in to one.

For me, it can be summed up by a term I've paraphrased since the team's inception — "Quoth the Ravens, Baltimore."
